About the Editor In Chief:Nicole Novey The first time I joined PANAMUN was in 8th grade and I was a delegate. I tried this out and yet I decided that it wasnt for me. Thats when I found out about Press. The following year I applied to ECHO and immediately loved it. My name is Nicole Novey and ive worked hard during my past years in this conference to hopefully one day become Editor. This year my dream has come true and I am very exited to, with the help of my Co-Editors, command the publishing machine that is ECHO. I was a reporter for two years and the Co-editor last year. I have also been a part of the press in a debate conference in Colon and was a reporter for MUNITY in THIMUN 2011. I guess what pushed me to join Press for the first time was my passion for writing, something that I have found that most of the reporters in ECHO have. That is probably the thing I enjoy the most about it, seeing how much everyone wants to help and play their part. The experience has helped me grow a lot. In the past I didnt really have what it took to be a leader but throughout my years at ECHO I found myself doing more and more things to get it running. Eventually when I became Co-Editor last year I got a taste of what it is like to be in charge of such a great group of people. This year I will be able to transform and change the Press for the good, just like it did to me.About the Co Editors:Aury Naranjo: My name is Aury Naranjo. This year, I am a senior and also one of ECHOs Assistant Editors. Ive part of PANAMUN since I was in 8th grade. My first two years, I was a delegate. In those years, I realized debating wasnt for me. I never really had it in me to commence a resolution, introduce amendments and was barely able to raise my placard. Then, in 10th grade, I discovered ECHO. It was in this busy work room where I discovered my place in PANAMUN. For the next two years, I was a reporter. I spent two conferences running around in bunny slippers, observing, interviewing and then writing. Wed work our hearts out for a whole day to finally get a neat ECHO issue in our hands. It was all worth it. It was this experience that made me realize reporting was what I wanted to do with my life. This year, I was lucky enough to get chosen for an officer position as Co-Editor. To me, this is an opportunity where Ill be able to learn more about the organization that I love so much. Ill be able to take part of something that made me realize, not only my place in PANAMUN, but my calling. I look forward to working with the ECHO team (aka. Powerhouse), my Editor-and-Chief and partner Assistant Editor. I have faith that the passion we all hold for ECHO will create one of the best newspapers weve had in the conference.Tania Arguello: My name is Tania Arguello and I am a senior at the International School of Panama. The first time I participated in Panamun and in any Model UN conference was on October of 2009 when I moved to Panama. My first experience in this conference was that of a delegate for the Special Committee. Throughout the conference I scribbled away about the topics under discussion on my folder. Although I knew long before that I had a passion for writing, it was then and there that I realized that the way I could most contribute to Panamun was through that passion instead of through debating. I thus decided to apply for a reporter of the ECHO Press the following year. On October of 2010, I was able to switch from scribbles on a folder to published articles that were available to everyone. That year I wrote with one thought always in mind; I wanted to truly contribute something special to the conference. I believe it was because of that persistent thought that I was awarded an honorable mention as a reporter that year. With the end of that Panamun conference though, I felt that I wanted to contribute something even greater the following year, and so I decided to apply for a leading position of the ECHO Press. This years conference I am glad to say I am a co-editor for Press.

About ECHO Press

ECHO is a committee unique from all the others because we are here to analyze and inform you of what is going on behind the scenes of PANAMUN. The press group is composed of the most eager writers, swift photographers and crafty layout. Not to mention of course our admin who is running up and down to get us the coffee to power us and the tools we need to get a good issue out to you. Finally there are the Editors who work together to get the Press up and running, making sure that everything is going smoothly. The press room is a place where you can get your creativity flowing and demonstrate your skills for everyone to see. If you get the change to be in, or visit the press room you will notice how much movement there is compared to the rest of the conference. Reporters are running around to get information, interview the chairs and conducting surveys. Photographers are lurking around trying to get the chairs and delegates in one place to take their picture, finding a good image for an article or capturing the things no one notices to put in the candids section of the issue. Layout is moving from computer to computer, trying to get the format and style of the newspaper in the right way and admin is hurrying to ask the other officers for anything we need, getting the room in order and fetching reporters that are MIA. The editors and jumping up and down trying to get everyone in place, correcting articles and finding out the answers to everyones questions. However even though everyone has a different occupation, in the end all the members get together to do one thing. Print out those issues and staple them together. We are like a swarm of bees, contributing in synergy to communicate to the rest of the conference.That is what is great about ECHO. Everyone plays a very important part of getting the issues out and teamwork is the key element of the group. Throughout the conference you will be hearing about things like whats going on in the committee rooms, current and relevant news thats happening around the world, great places to visit in Panama and ways to keep your conference days green. We will also be writing about the lighter side of PANAMUN and give you interesting facts on your chairs, the SGs and the other officers. Every press member is part of the group because they are passionate and committed to ECHO, so they will try their hardest to keep you interested and informed, making this years issues the best ever.
