Hello everyone!

My name is Ana Lucia Saa, and I have the opportunity and privilege to be one of the Middle School Deputy Secretary Generals for this year’s conference, PANAMUN XXXIII. I’m currently a senior and I’ve been at ISP for the past 13 years. I was born in Panama but all of my family is Colombian, and I don’t feel more strongly about one or the other. ISP has allowed me to embrace this international identity without judgement, making this community my second family. I am happiest when I’m spending time with my family or when I’m at my grandparent’s finca in Colombia surrounded by nature, cold air, and a good view. It’s my favorite place in the whole world. Apart from that, I also love acting, singing, and dancing!

I first found out about MUN through a pioneer project when I was in 5th grade; they were trying to have a smaller conference for our grade so that we could learn basic debate skills before we entered Middle School and, potentially, PANAMUN. Even though I had one of the hardest delegations, my research and perseverance paid off, and I found myself winning the Best Delegate award. Nothing beat the feeling, and, without knowing, that conference drove me towards politics and debate, which have become my dream career. Since then, I’ve participated in 5 PANAMUN conferences as a delegate, chair, head of MS and now, as part of the Secretariat; a position I’d aspired to fulfill since I found out about it.

Debate has allowed me to find my passion in advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves and I truly believe that PANAMUN embodies this sentiment wholeheartedly. I am so unbelievably excited to participate in this year’s conference, and I hope that you are all as touched by PANAMUN’s purpose as I have been. And, hey, maybe you’ll find a dream career here as well if you just give it a try.

I hope you’re ready for the best PANAMUN conference to date - see you soon!
