Hello everybody!

My name is Valentina Zaobornyj, and I am incredibly honored to serve as the Secretary General of PANAMUN XXXIII. Currently, I am a junior at the International School of Panama, making this my 7th year at ISP and 3rd PANAMUN conference. I am Argentinian but was born in Panama. I grew up in Argentina surrounded by my family until I was 6 years old when I moved to Peru for 3 years before finally settling in Panama again. Certainly, growing up in three different countries offered me insight into diverse cultures and customs at an early age, sparking my interest in international relations and discovering unique stories. Aside from debate, I enjoy cooking, running, spending time with friends, watching movies, and reading.

Not too long ago, my debate journey started in ninth grade when I participated in the delegation of France to UNICEF for my first PANAMUN conference- gaining the memorable experience that kickstarted my love of debate. Finally, I had found the place to channel my love of inquiry, analytical thinking, leadership, and - most of all - arguing. Everything had finally clicked- this was my passion, where I felt truly myself and could empower others to be their best selves, too. Since then, I went on to participate as a delegate and chair in six conferences, from small yet memorable ones in Panama to huge conferences in the Netherlands!

Alongside this year’s incredible Secretariat team, we are dedicated to working hard and making PANAMUN XXXIII the best it can be. I trust this conference will once again unite the ISP community and provide an opportunity for students to showcase their unique talents and passions. See you in October- for what I am certain will be an exceptional conference!
